Prefilters - 3 micron

A pre-filter is a sieve made of braided material or pressed materials such as sintered bronze or sintered plastic. These pre-filters can filter out particles down to approximately 3 microns. For many applications this is sufficient and system damage or crashes are no longer to be expected.

Fine filters (micro filters) - 1 micron

Fine filters are constructed from several layers of filter material. With this type of filter, air can be cleaned to approximately 1 micron. We recommend installing a pre-filter to protect the fine filter.

Ultra-fine filters (or sub-micron filters) - 0.01 micron

Ultra-fine filters consist of multiple layers of sub-micron fiber cloth. This allows very small particles, water droplets and oil mist (aerosols) down to 0.01 microns to be filtered out of the air. These filters should always be used in combination with a fine filter as pre-filter. With an ultra-fine filter, the oil content in the air can be reduced to 0.01 mg/m³.

Activated carbon filter

Activated carbon filters are able to remove gaseous substances such as hydrocarbons, fragrances and flavors from the air. Residual oil content can be reduced to 0.003 mg/m³.

Filter elements

To maintain compressed air quality standards, filter elements should be replaced with new filter elements every 6/12 months, depending on the environmental conditions and the compressor. Filter element replacement is essential to ensure:

  • maintaining high performance
  • quality of compressed air in accordance with international standard
  • low operating costs
  • protecting components and processes downstream.

Failure to replace filter elements will cause an increase in pressure drop through the system and subsequently increase operating costs.

Use a cyclone filter for optimal results

Cyclonic filter

Use a cyclone filter to separate excess moisture before drying the air with a refrigerated dryer, adsorption dryer or membrane dryer. This protects your compressed air dryer against overload, resulting in a lower drying result or increased energy consumption.
